“I don't know how to begin to thank you and your staff at Journey for helping to return our daughter to us. Only you - and anyone reading this letter whose son or daughter is addicted can possibly understand the pain, the nightmares and sense of hopelessness all parents suffer watching their son or daughter slowly kill themselves.
For several years we tried everything in our power and spent more money than I earned trying to get our daughter sober. We tried multiple rehabs in the belief that finally this one would work. We sought countless therapists, participated in interventions and finally she entered a detox program that was supposed to eliminate the cravings. Nothing worked!
So these years were filled with brief moments of elation.
Finally, thinking we licked the problem only to go through the horrible realization that once again, we were back to the beginning. Each time she relapsed, it only got worse. She stole, she lied, and she was verbally abusive not to mention the car wrecks. The therapists gave up on our daughter. We didn't! Sadly, brochures for rehabs and sober living say all the right things, things parents want to hear and believe.
So it took more rehabs, more attempts, and many fact-finding missions to finally find Journey, the only place our daughter could heal and can only hope most parents searching for help don't have to go through what we went through.
That is why I take great joy in writing this letter. I want to say to any parent reading this, take a look at Journey. Talk to Clark and Cherie listen to them. Seriously consider sending your precious child there. You will find the physical setting beautiful, calm, peaceful and perfect for recovery. The staff really knows what they are doing.
They have a simple but profound understanding of the nature and effects of addiction. They knew just how to modify the dysfunctional behavior that is an integral part of all addicts. Our daughter now has sobriety - something I never thought possible. I asked the staff at Journey to help her find quality sobriety, then she would have a chance to live. And they did.”
